"The oral history project helped me reconnect with people I hadn't seen for decades — it's important that our stories are recorded."— Archive contributor
Heritage
Our heritage programme preserves and shares the lived experiences, histories and stories of LGBTQ+ people and communities across Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas.
Collections & archives
We curate a growing archive of photographs, documents, posters and ephemera that reflect local LGBTQ+ life. The collection includes material from community groups, events, campaigns and personal donations.
If you have items, photographs or paperwork that tell a story about local LGBTQ+ life, please contact us — we can advise on donation, long-term care and how items may be used in exhibitions or publications.
Oral histories
Our oral history project records the memories of people who have shaped or been part of the local LGBTQ+ community. These recorded interviews are preserved as part of the archive and used (with permission) in events and learning resources.
We work with interviewees to ensure stories are represented sensitively and that contributors retain control over how their material is used.
Exhibitions & events
We present exhibitions, talks and community events that highlight hidden histories and celebrate positive stories. Check our events page for upcoming heritage sessions or contact us to arrange a talk for your school or group.
